Well I suppose I should make use of this short email newsletter to tell you where we're at so far.. so I will.
As it stands, we've got the basics done. By basics, I mean the basic basics; we've got the Website sorted, the Union's happy with our forms, we've got a day for the main meeting and BBQ sorted and Finally have the Aston common room booked for the nights we want - Winning.
Another cool thing we've managed to secure: The freshers BBQ can go ahead and will be publicised by the Union!!
I explained to the Union that there's not really a GIAG we can do, so could we just stick on a BBQ and give out a load of burgers - To my surprise the Uni was like "Yeah go for it!" (I would have expected a "I suppose you might be able to.." reaction)
So we seem to be in their good books!
The main job which is outstanding is booking speakers. If anyone has any contact lists of people who could speak, I would love to have their email address/ FB/ other contact details so I can book them!
We're running out of time and I'm starting to feel stressed out by our unorganisedness for this vital part of CU :s
- If you do have any click HERE and send me an email (ooh email links)
Greetings from the west midlands Christian aid office! I hope you are well.
This autumn we have an exciting tour about tax justice coming up. The Birmingham office of Christian aid is looking for a volunteer over the summer to help make this tour a resounding success and a challenge to the church for justice.
Do you know anyone who you think this may appeal to – if so ask them to apply a.s.a.p as we would like to get going as soon as possible.
I'm not sure whether there are any postgraduates (or soon-to-be postgraduates) in the CU at Staffordshire, but if there are, we've got a weekend conference coming up in a few weeks not far from Stafford. Would you mind forwarding this message to anyone who might be interested? Do get in touch if you'd like to know more.

Transforming the Mind: Wisdom and Wonder
The Tenth Annual National Conference for Christian Postgraduates and Postdoctoral Researchers.
This year's conference is scheduled for 22-24 June, in the picturesque setting of Dovedale House, in the Derbyshire Dales.
Speakers: Prof Sir Colin Humphreys and Prof Alison Phipps.
We believe that this event is unique in the UK, providing space for students and academics of many disciplines and nationalities to share fellowship, ideas and experiences in a really inspiring setting.
The conference challenges us to 'offer [our] bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God' and 'to be transformed by the renewing of [our] minds' (Romans 12:1). As students, researchers and academics, we meet to encourage each other and explore what God is calling us to be and to do in the university and outside. As we ask questions about our faith, our work, our relationships and our world, we seek to share wisdom and learn from each other by God's Spirit.
